Our Wines

Traminer

It is considered the best white wine and delights us every year with Spätese and Auslese qualities.

The wines coddles us with the scent of wild roses, which also delight our eyes in May.

Already Cyriacus Spangenberg, chronicler of Martin Luther, praised the Traminer from this region in 1572 in the Mansfelder chronicle.

During the Luther Decade 2008 – 2017 he was ambassador of the Luther Way in Saxony-Anhalt.

Riesling

For the best ripening of the Riesling we have created 40 terraces in the vineyard.

The king of white wines demands all skills and regular meetings with his winemaker.

Its fine, refreshing acidity perfectly harmonizes with the peach and apricot aromas.

As a reward, in some years he too may shoot out of the bottle as a sparkling wine.

Pinot Blanc

Brings noble, racy wines that refine the skills of the chefs.

They have a good structure and only a delicate acidity.

The Weißburgunder coddles us with citrus, pear and peach aromas.

If all values are correct, the Pinot Blanc may also be bottled as sparkling wine.

Pinot Noir

Our diva in the vineyards needs intensive care during the vegetation phase.

Therefore, the Weissherbst (Vin Gris) with strawberry aromas and the pressed red wine with aromas of black cherries are convincing.

Hmmm!

Müller-Thurgau

The first vines we planted 25 years ago.

The wines taste fresh and aromatic with a delicate nutmeg and black currant flavor.

A very good drinking wine!

Merlot

For this grape variety, the Weingut Hoffmann Alte Schrotmühle carried out the cultivation test for the Saale-Unstrut wine-growing region in 2008.

During the last 10 years the wines convinced us with Spätlese and Auslese qualities.

The wine aromas take us into a berry garden full of currants and blackberries.

A bar of caramel chocolate lies on the bench in the shady spot.

Experiment successful!

Chasselas

These vines are growing in a vineyard that is proven to have belonged to the father of George Frideric Handel. This vineyard was symbolically reopened in 1999 and entrusted to us in 2009.

Chasselas is the oldest table grape in the world and has its origin in Egypt.

Brings light, alcohol-reduced wines with almond aromas.

Silvaner

A wine that surprises us again and again with its fullness and aroma.

Its vines harmonize especially with our red sandstone soils.

Our vineyards

Our vineyards are located around Höhnstedt in the areas “Höhnstedter Kelterberg” and “Höhnstedter Steiger”.

We cultivate almost 5 hectares of vineyards with wine varieties typical for the region.

Our Riesling vineyard is located in the large Höhnstedter Kelterberg site.

Our wines are characterized by bunter soils and convince with fruity taste and harmonious acidity.

On the small Höhnstedter Steiger site, our Pinot Noir, Müller-Thurgau, Silvaner, Traminer, Pinot Blanc and, since April 2008, Merlot thrive.
